一 年 將 盡 ， 一 鼓 作 氣 好 好 整 理 實 在 是 亂 得 不 能 再 亂 的 衣 櫥 飾 櫃 ， 丟 了 兩 大 袋 衣 物 之 餘 ， 最 大 的 驚 喜 ， 是 重 新 發 現 心 頭 好 。
那 是 一 條 我 早 以 為 丟 掉 了 的 古 董 頸 飾 。 到 二 手 店 和 「 夜 冷 」 鋪 尋 寶 的 癖 好 從 留 學 倫 敦 那 年 開 始 ， 溜 進 各 大 小 街 頭 的 古 物 店 、 或 在 周 末 的 露 天 市 集 ， 總 會 買 到 稱 身 合 意 的 六 、 七 十 年 代 大 衣 和 四 、 五 十 年 代 珠 片 刺 繡 小 手 袋 ， 來 自 各 個 年 代 林 林 總 總 的 古 物 ， 散 發 出 獨 有 的 陳 舊 味 氣 ， 凝 結 成 倫 敦 記 憶 的 重 要 一 節 。 回 來 後 ， 憑 藉 對 這 種 古 物 氣 味 的 懷 念 ， 把 我 帶 到 士 丹 頓 街 與 伊 利 近 街 交 界 的 店 子 。 那 年 ， 店 子 算 是 最 早 進 駐 當 時 還 未 叫 「 蘇 豪 」 的 魅 力 小 區 成 員 之 一 ， 偶 爾 經 過 ， 驚 為 天 人 。 陳 設 貨 品 氛 圍 氣 味 … … 歐 洲 感 覺 絲 毫 不 差 。 數 次 到 訪 ， 幾 經 留 連 ， 終 於 碰 上 那 年 的 生 日 禮 物 ─ ─ 一 九 一 零 年 代 出 品 、 白 底 藍 邊 中 間 有 花 圖 案 的 新 藝 術 風 格 （ Art Nouveau ） 搪 瓷 吊 墜 的 銀 做 頸 鏈 。 曾 經 的 至 愛 ， 卻 於 年 月 雜 物 堆 積 和 煩 瑣 紛 擾 中 ， 慢 慢 消 失 於 房 間 內 某 個 角 落 。
在 出 其 不 意 之 際 ， 以 為 失 落 的 卻 失 而 復 得 ， 猶 幸 別 來 無 恙 。 是 夜 ， 又 再 走 到 店 子 ， 才 驚 覺 它 守 護 早 已 變 臉 無 數 次 的 小 區 已 經 十 年 了 。 往 西 行 一 直 走 ， 另 一 間 古 物 店 正 為 本 來 已 經 引 人 入 勝 的 必 列 士 街 帶 來 更 多 趣 味 。 在 重 建 變 天 之 前 ， 抓 緊 時 機 好 好 感 受 這 個 韻 味 無 窮 的 小 社 區 。
感 謝 它 們 的 存 在 ， 還 是 能 在 香 港 找 到 透 氣 的 空 間 。

I think Stanton Street, Elgin Street, Bridges Street, Aberdeen Street, Hollywood Road, Kau U Fong, Graham Street and the other Streets in the Vicinity constitute a unique Commune in that they tend to furnish an ideal Platform of Coexistence for well-blended new and old Cultures. Whilst an impressive, extensive Array of new-styled Restaurants offering innovative Fusions of Delicacies exist in the Area, there are old-fashioned ones that still serve conventional Dishes. The Area is also a Stage for the typical chinese Market Scene. Also, an artistic Atmosphere seems to be generated in the Community as can be seen by the great Number of Furniture and Furnishings Shops selling Merchandise of contemporary Designs and Galleries of fine Arts located there, not to mention that there are also numerous Shops selling traditional Things such as chinese Herbs, local Snacks and so forth. Mention should also be made to the Portion of Hollywood Road, more specifically, the massive Walling ----- jointed to the long vacated Dormitory for Policemen and their Families ----- which is Home to a very wide Span of Trees and their Roots (please be referred to 軻貴妃's Article published on September 21, 2008, not directly relevant, though).
Bridges Street also yields some historic Value as there stood a Building where Dr. Sun Yat-sen and his Comrades ----- aka, collectively, "四大寇" (the Group must have been most wanted and chased after by the then manchurian imperial Government) ----- plotted to overturn the then very corrupt, feeble and incompetent Qing Court. In the Neighbourhood was The Government Central School (中央書院), situated at the Junction of Gough Street and Hollywood Road, (the Predecessor to the renowned Queen's College which is in another District, though), where our 國父 had studied. Also worth Mentioning and within Walking Distance, on Castle Road near Caine Road, is a Mansion known in the Past as "Kom Tong Hall" (the Residence of Ho Kom Tong, a younger Brother of Robert Hotung and the Grandfather of the late Kung Fu Superstar, Bruce Lee) which now houses the Dr. Sun Yat-sen Museum, subsequent to an Assignment of Ownership.
I believe an antiquated musical Box makes a good Article, inter alia, in a 古物店. It seems to me a musical Box is a romance-orientated Object, each attached with a different great Love Story, and, as such, is a desirable Gift for a Lover. Not only is it usually manufactured exquisitely, with a high Degree of Craftsmanship, to the smallest, most exact and finest Detail, and emphasizing on Beauty and Look, great Attention is also given to the mechanical Aspect, that is, the sounding Mechanism so as to achieve the highest Level of Sound Precision. A musical Box is thus a fine Piece of Engineering in Addition to being a fine Ornament. The Music emitted from a musical Box seemingly conveys a Message ----- a Message of Love and of Warmth -----to and fro across the Globe ----- and brings back many pleasant Memories of your beloved ones from a remote Corner of the World and ......... across the Miles.
